My Story

From the Heart of Peruto the Hearts of FamiliesAround the World

“Before I became a Doula, I was a mother. Before I taught parents how to care for their babies, I was learning to embrace motherhood while pursuing my own dreams.”

I come from the southern skies, where the Andes cradle the heart of Peru — a wonderful country of breathtaking landscapes, vibrant colors, ancient traditions, music, and stories woven through generations of women who have nurtured with wisdom, tenderness, and grace. A land whose culture is deeply rooted in family, resilience, and love.

It is the land where I was born, where my values were shaped, and where I learned that education is not simply about acquiring knowledge, but about transforming lives.

“Education is the key to success.”

This belief guided me to the prestigious National University of Trujillo, where I pursued my Bachelor's degree in Education.

But my university years were unlike those of most students.

I was not only a young woman pursuing her dreams. I was also a single mother, raising my one and only son.

While attending my college courses, my infant son was right there beside me. Between lectures, assignments, and examinations, I breastfed my baby, comforted him, and continued my studies.

I was the only mother on campus balancing those two worlds in that way: carrying the responsibilities of motherhood while pursuing a university education.

Being a single mother taught me that love is not simply something we feel. It is something we demonstrate through sacrifice, perseverance, patience, and the determination to create a better future for those who depend on us.

There were challenges, difficult days, and moments when I had to find strength beyond what I believed I possessed. Yet my son gave my journey an even greater purpose.

Motherhood did not put an end to my dreams. It gave me another reason to pursue them.

My son was never an obstacle to my education. He was my inspiration, my companion on this journey, and the beautiful reason I kept moving forward.

More than an academic achievement, this moment represents the love, determination, and perseverance of a mother who pursued her dreams while raising her child.

I did not walk this journey alone. My son was part of every step, and on that truly unforgettable day, we celebrated together.

Long before I understood what my professional calling would become, life was already teaching me the importance of nurturing, patience, compassion, and perseverance.

Those lessons remained with me as my journey eventually brought me to the United States.

When I arrived in Los Angeles, I didn't know anyone. I started from the ground up, guided by faith, purpose, and a deep love for my son.

Yet even as I was building a new life, I didn't know that something extraordinary was waiting for me.

I didn't yet know that my purpose was waiting for me in the quiet, sacred hours of the night — in the soft breaths of newborns and the gentle strength of mothers finding their way.

My path revealed itself when I was hired by a family and met a professional who introduced me to the world of doulas. That encounter changed my life — it was as if my calling had finally found its name.

I began my journey as a Birth Doula, but soon discovered that my true passion lay in the postpartum world — in those tender, intimate moments when mothers and newborns need compassion, reassurance, and loving care the most.

As my passion grew, so did my desire to learn, to serve, and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families. Over the years, I expanded my knowledge and professional training, becoming a Postpartum Doula, Newborn & Infant Care Specialist, and New Parent Educator.

That journey began more than 25 years ago. Since then, I have had the honor of guiding over a thousand families and mentoring a generation of doulas, many of them from my own Latino community.

Here, I found a beautiful way to unite two of the greatest parts of my life: my love for education and my love for mothers, babies, and families.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of walking alongside families from many cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life. Each baby has reminded me of the extraordinary beauty of new beginnings, and each parent has taught me something about love, courage, and the human heart.

“You never stop learning how to make things better.”

This is a belief I have carried throughout my professional journey. Every family is unique, every baby teaches us something new, and every experience offers an opportunity to grow.

For me, guiding, educating, and teaching parents has become more than a profession. It has become an art — an art shaped by knowledge, experience, patience, and love.

But no matter how many years pass, how many families I support, or how far my work takes me, I will never forget where my story began.

I am still that Peruvian mother who believed in education, who held her baby close while pursuing her dreams, and who refused to choose between loving her child and building her future.

Today, when I guide a new mother through her first uncertain moments, encourage a father as he learns to hold and soothe his newborn, or reassure parents who are exhausted and overwhelmed, I bring more than professional knowledge.

I bring the heart of a mother, the patience of an educator, the experience of a lifetime, and the warmth of my Peruvian roots.

My greatest reward has never been a title or a certification. It is seeing a mother regain her confidence, a father discover his own nurturing strength, and a family begin to believe in themselves.

Because I know that behind every new baby, there are parents learning, growing, and sometimes quietly wondering whether they are doing enough.

And if my journey has taught me anything, it is that love, knowledge, and compassionate support can give us the courage to accomplish more than we ever imagined.

I was born in Peru. My journey brought me to America. But my heart belongs wherever a family needs guidance, reassurance, and a loving hand.
